Andy Ellison - Cornflake Zoo - The Rockasteria
Not heard of Andy Ellison? You won't be alone but check out this band backing him! Yes that's right Marc Bolan, John Paul Jones (Bass), Nicky Hopkins, Rod Stewart (Backing Vocals) with Maddy Bell and yes, Dusty Springfield on Backing Vocals! Extraordinary tin pan alley late sixties "mod psych beat synth pop" as Rockasteria would have it, from work with Bolan to John's Children with such a distinctive voice and presence that somehow didn't hit the heights he deserved to. Mind you it should be noted that the album Cornflake Zoo is WEIRD! Especially the songs written by Andy himself, but check out Life's Too Short which is really rather beautiful and even haunting. Quite why he would add covers of Lennon and McCartney is beyond me and adds nothing to his repertoire IMHO but there you go!and as usual Marios at the Rockasteria comes up trumps with some fascinating text from Radio-Star to put Andy's work in context!
Check it out!
I note with some disappointment that there are comments on Rockasteria since I downloaded the Andy Ellison that folk are stealing Marios' work and posting it as their own. Now you may think that this is precisely what I do!? Not true. The purpose of my weblog, since being 'told off' [ie threatened by web sheriffs!!] for posting ROIOs of my own devising and discovery, I have tagged other weblogs and their postings of what interests me from music to art and photography and highlight the sources including direct links to their weblogs and pages concerned so you can download them for yourselves. I do NOT pass these off as my own and in the rare times when I may have posted something without such acknowledgement all someone claiming authorship has to do is get in touch and I will correct any error. Having rec'd abuse at comments sections, thrown off other weblogs for petty rule infringements and the like [sic like Big O!] yet still being determined to ignore trolls and personal abuse and yet still share their postings too when it suits and having been criticised for 'stealing' other's work this is not the ethos of my pages. Get in touch if you find any errors! Fanxt! That is all!
It's not Dark Yet . . . . . but it's getting there
