Jaime Royal Robertson: (July 5, 1943 – August 9, 2023) | URBANASPIRINES

Lovely tribute to Robbie here over at Urbanaspirines. Kostas does these things so well!

Jaime Royal "Robbie" Robertson OC (July 5, 1943 – August 9, 2023). Robbie Robertson, a talented guitarist, songwriter, and singer, who led the Canadian-American ensemble known as the Band to recognition in the rock music scene of the 1970s, died at the age of 80 on Wednesday. He was well known for working with Bob Dylan and Martin Scorsese. The gifted guitarist was born on July 5, 1943. As confirmed in a statement from his management, Robertson was suffering from a long illness and died because of it.

In a statement, Robertson’s manager of 34 years, Jared Levine, said, “Robbie was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, including his wife, Janet, his ex-wife, Dominique, her partner Nicholas, and his children Alexandra, Sebastian, Delphine, and Delphine’s partner Kenny. He is also survived by his grandchildren Angelica, Donovan, Dominic, Gabriel and Seraphina.
Robertson recently completed his fourteenth film music project with frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’ In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Six Nations of The Grand River to support a new Woodland Cultural Center.” Thus supporting his Mohawk roots (on his mother’s side)

Sorry I don’t post links to albums still commercially available  so go buy it. It’s worth it!

despite YouTube having the whole album available for play. . . . here

Here . . . . .

buy them at Robbie’s website here . . . .

The most recent tweet from his account was posted just a day before his death — a humorous photo of himself circa 1970 with Garth Hudson, now the last surviving member of the Band.

You are always welcome Kostas of course
I am just sorry to not have provided links to the Robertson 87 album which is still commercially available and I don’t do that, having been told off (threatened?!) by web sheriffs before for that!
Still your profile of JRR at least means I can promote it like that!
