So sorry to hear of the death of artist photographer Marcia Resnick an early influence and her ‘Re-Visions’ was one of the first artist’s book I stocked at MOMA Oxford back in the late seventies
Re-Visions
"Adieu to the fabulous and inspired Marcia Resnick (21 November 1950 – 18 June 2025). In the 1970s and 80s the Brooklyn-born self-described “photographer and visual vampire” stylishly documented a who’s who of New York downtown bohemia, including Beats (William S Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg), artists (Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat), bleeding-edge literary figures (Gary Indiana, Kathy Acker), flaming creatures from underground cinema and theatre (Divine, John Waters, Jackie Curtis) and punk and No Wave scene-makers (Lydia Lunch, Deborah Harry, Johnny Thunders, Stiv Bators, Anya Phillips, Alan Vega, John Lydon, Joey Ramone, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop). In Resnick’s gritty, confrontational photography, everyone always looks a bit fraying and elegantly wasted. In other words – they look great!” Lobotomy Room" (facebook)
