Film catch up . . . .Saw a fine film recently and late night random stumble across ‘August: Osage County’ with Meryl Streep, Sam Shepherd, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Julianne Nicholson, and unusually somehow Benedict Cumberbatch as a ‘simple cousin’ ‘Little Charlie’ upon whose parentage the whole story sits for the denouement, by Margo Martindale, and Misty Upham based upon a play by Tracy Letts and co-produced by George Clooney amongst quite a team, if that is of any interest.
Also starring Chris Cooper and Dermot Mulroney and the youngster Abigail Breslin who I had just seen in the excellent and hilarious Zombieland, it was one of those films and plays that effects to be the crumbling to collapse of a family this time from the Plains of America. Superb stuff if a trifle obviously from a stage production.
