Song of The Day :: Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You

Edwyn Collins | A Girl Like You

I can't recall if there is word for something, a work of art, that you feel has always been there, a song that you think has always existed and is in the public domain as it were. This is one! Hasn't this song always existed? Hasn't it been written for years and years. The collective psyche? The universal mind? Was this song written by the extraordinarily tenacious and resilient Edwyn Collins?

It seem it has always been there. To me. To anyone else?

It reflects the universal. The attraction to the opposite sex. Never met a girl like you before . . . . . except we all have! In this case it won Edwyn an Ivor Novello!

If you don't know . . . .

"In February 2005, two days after complaining of feeling unwell, Edwyn suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and was rushed to intensive care in London’s Royal Free hospital. Days later, he suffered another. They were both on a catastrophic scale, and his wife Grace was told to, basically, stock up on the Kleenex and await the worst."
