Women In Rock - Part 5, VARIOUS ARTISTS - URBANASPIRINES

Women in Rock part 5

So Kostas over at URBANASPIRINES just lets his compilations keep on coming . . . extraordinary stuff and no mistake this selection again includes many favourites and lots of more radical gals I hadn’t necessarily heard of . . . . . quite the most brilliant job and includes potted bios for each and every one of these incandescent ladeez!

Texas (Sharleen Spitieri)

Laurie and Lou

the extraordinary deva and counter culture figure Danielle Dax

who we posted a link to a URBANASPIRINES profile some time ago

Jullee Cruise
Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs)

Susanna Hoffs

another force of nature the creative genius that is Björk

Suzanne Vega

Amy Winehouse
I confess to still feeling ambivalent feelings regarding Amy and her death. I am still angry at the people in her life and ‘Rehab' makes me incandescent with rage so ignorant and stupid a message. Having worked in one of Europe’s greatest rehabs I guess I would say that but poly drug use and combined with alcohol has lost me so many clients and friends I just wish someone had been able to rescue her as she died way way too young. Just try and imagine what she might have lived to achieve

The beautiful and multitalented Corrs sisters

Clannad (Enya and sister Maire Brennan)

Blondie 2017 - BBC TV The One Show - ‘Long Time'
