Mother Maybelle and The Carter Sisters : Wildwood Flower

Born in 1909, on the 10th of May, Maybelle Carter is among American music’s most important and beloved figures. She is commonly referred to in country music circles as “Mother Maybelle” because of a lifetime of music-making that is ever-cherished and anchored in love. She created the "Carter Scratch" style of playing the guitar. On her 19th birthday, Maybelle, her cousin, Sara, and Sara's husband, A.P. Carter, recorded what is probably the Carter Family's most famous song, "Wildwood Flower". She passed away October 23, 1978 in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Remembering steel guitarist Johnny Sibert on his birthday.
As a member of Carl Smith's band, he appeared on most of Smith's hits, including "Hey Joe", "Go Boy Go!", "Loose Talk" and "You're Free To Go". In 1998 Johnny was inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
Johnny Sibert (Nov 24, 1933 - Dec 21, 2013)

Remembering Rollin "Oscar" Sullivan, of Lonzo & Oscar, who was born January 19, 1919 in Edmonton, Kentucky. "Oscar" was the mandolinist in the comic duo. They joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1947. A year later the pair had a novelty hit with "I'm My Own Grandpa." Several different men played the role of Lonzo through the years. Rollin Sullivan died September 7, 2012 in Madison, Tenn., at age 93.
