Art From The Future : Trump supporter asks why folks think they are STUPID! . . . . . . . .

THIS WAS ON ART FROM THE FUTURE (note spellcheck put “Fuhrer"! 😂 😳) . . . . . . .

(illus added by me)

THIS WAS ON A FRIEND’S PAGE: An anguished question from a Trump supporter:

‘Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?’
THE SERIOUS ANSWER: Here’s what the majority of anti-Trump voters honestly feel about Trump supporters en masse:

That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought

“Fine.”

That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said,

“Okay.”

That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said,

“No problem.”

That when he made up stories about seeing Muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said,

“Not an issue.”

That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn’t care, you exclaimed,

“He sure knows me.”

That when you heard him relating a story of an elderly guest of his country club, an 80-year old man, who fell off a stage and hit his head, to Trump replied: “‘Oh my God, that’s disgusting,’ and I turned away. I couldn’t—you know, he was right in front of me, and I turned away. I didn’t want to touch him. He was bleeding all over the place. And I felt terrible, because it was a beautiful white marble floor, and now it had changed color. Became very red.” You said,

“That’s cool!”
That when you saw him mock the disabled, you thought it was the funniest thing you ever saw

That when you heard him brag that he doesn’t read books, you said,

“Well, who has time?”

That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn’t commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said

“That makes sense.”

That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought,

“Yes!”

That when you heard him tell one rally to confiscate a man’s coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said,

“What a great guy!”

That you have watched the parade of neo-Nazis and white supremacists with whom he curries favor, while refusing to condemn outright Nazis, and you have said,

“Thumbs up!”

That you hear him unable to talk to foreign dignitaries without insulting their countries and demanding that they praise his electoral win, you said,

“That’s the way I want my President to be.”

That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they’re supposed to be regulating and you have said,

“What a genius!”

That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said,

“That’s smart!”

That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was in the middle of water and you have said,

“That makes sense.”

That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, “falling in love” with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said,

“That’s statesmanship!”

That Trump separated children from their families and put them in cages, managed to lose track of 1500 kids, has opened a tent city incarceration camp in the desert in Texas - he explains that they’re just “animals” - and you say,

“Well, OK then.”

That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening to beat up anybody who says otherwise.

What you don’t get, Trump supporters, is that our succumbing to frustration and shaking our heads, thinking of you as stupid, may very well be wrong and unhelpful, but it’s also…hear me…

charitable.

Because if you’re NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.

JOAN TRUMPAUER MULLHOLLAND Freedom Rider | Art From The Future

Joan Trumpauer Mulholland (born September 14, 1941) is an American civil rights activist who was active in the 1960s. She was one of the Freedom Riders who was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi in 1961, and was confined for two months in the Maximum Security Unit of the Mississippi State Penitentiary (known as “Parchman Farm”).  The following year she was the first white student to enroll at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi and served as the local secretary of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). She later worked as a teacher, and after her retirement she established the Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to educating youth about the Civil Rights Movement and how to become activists in their communities.

ART FROM THE FUTURE - Duchamp Ready Mades : The Urinal R.Mutt 1917

DUCHAMP Ready Made - Art From The Future

from the Tate Modern:

image
Oh hello, cross-holes. Fancy seeing you here.
SF-MOMA’s edition has the triangle holes, but it also has a line of holes at the top that are completely different from either other version.
image
Here’s one from Moderna Museet. Line and a circular set of holes!
image
Duchamp definitely intentionally made these different on purpose. It’s a “readymade” but it’s not, really, each of these is a specific custom creation.
It’s not even clear if he made it! He wrote a letter to his sister claiming that a female friend sent it to him, and he just enrolled it in the art exhibit under his own name. There’s also a possibility that that female friend was himself, since he later had a female pseudonym of Rrose Sélav.

This whole piece of art is a fractal troll, and it’s a beautiful one.

The only possible correction I can make is Duchamp’s alter ego’s name was Rrose Sélavy.  C'est la vie. Anglicé, “That’s life.”

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT II! UPDATE! THIS JUST IN . . . . . . .

WARNING!! :: AS THESE QUOTE THE Would be LEADER of THE FREE WORLD this article contains foul language and views that are EXTREMIST Violently AGGRESSIVE, openly FASCIST and deeply OFFENSIVE!

Those who are ignorant of the past are condemned to repeat it

to this

to this

From two of my favourite blogs:

“These are things that are already happening and if you let Trump get elected again, this country is not going to be worth living in. He’s talking about putting American citizens in internment camps. Do you think he’s joking? Do you have the money to move out of this country? Because I don’t.

It’s heading that direction anyway and the only way to stop it is to keep voting for the best person you can find but vote, because otherwise, the people who want rapists to marry their victims are the same people who know they don’t have to take your opinion seriously because you don’t vote.

 . . . . .

I do not like the way the US government is on many many levels, but it’s never stopped me from voting because there’s always a better choice and the worst choice and in this case it’s very extreme. Things can get a lot worse if you don’t vote. I think some people may have trouble understanding the danger to themselves and people they love if Trump gets elected. But it’s real. And if you don’t keep him out, as well as trying to get the best, most liberal people elected down the ballot, you’re condemning somebody whether it’s you, or somebody who’s defenseless who would’ve had a chance at a better life before.

I think many people know that the way this country is structured with the electoral vote and the courts screws everything up. We could have the nice things that we want at least some of them but you have to have 80% of the people voting there wouldn’t be a republican party if you did that, but nobody wants to do it and it’s right there in front of your face. And then the conspiracy theories start where it used to just be on the side of conservatives now Democrats proclaim. It’s all a big con game and nothing can be done which is exactly what f***ing conservatives want you to do. It’s a well orchestrated push by the oligarchy to get more for them and less for you.

This is the creation of a culture war, because that’s the only way that the Republicans think they can win and it’s working. But if you want gay marriage, voting, women, to have a checking account, abortion, and I think one of the most important issues, the police being able to be prosecuted. Because Trump is going to give them immunity to be a special death squad and once you can’t take them to court what do you think is going to happen? Do you think they kill a lot of people now? Wait until you can’t take them to court over it.

And this goes on and on and on and the solutions are not perfect but for god sake, just go out there and end this narcissistic, illiterate, completely bankrupt, motherf***er's career.”

SUNDAY Track of The Day : Lou Rawls - Alphabet Song (1970) | Art From The Future (and Guess I’m Dumb)

Lou Rawls - Alphabet Song (1970)

You know how people say they could listen to certain vocalists read the phone book?  I kinda feel that way about Lou Rawls; so maybe you might not find this as cool as I do. I was trying to post another Lou Rawls tune when I stumbled on this - Lou Rawls on Sesame Street, reciting the alphabet to the piano riff from his classic Grammy winning Dead End Street.

I note this I found from the brilliant Art From The Future and on his note above I spotted that he found the track from Guess I’m Dumb . . . . . small world huh?

JOAN MITCHELL :: 1925 - 1992 | ART FROM THE FUTURE

I am a particular fan of Abstract Expressionist Joan Mitchell and she was a fine painter
but this may alienate almost everyone who drops by here . . . . ?!
(who ARE you talking to? ED . . . there is nobody there!)
This is posted from Art From The Future which is another favourite art blog I visit almost daily

nobrashfestivity:

"My paintings repeat a feeling about Lake Michigan, or water,
or fields... It’s more like a poem... and that’s what I want to paint.”

HOW TO DRESS AT CHRISTMAS!! Slavic winter solstice celebrations - ART FROM THE FUTURE

Simply, people throughout the world and somehow especially in the colder areas of Europe there is a long tradition of dressing up at Christmas time or more appropriately Saturnalian revelries

These from the always superb  Art From The Future

who quoted these from beautiful-basque-country:

Masked processions of the Slavs

Kurenti in Slovenia
Dondolashi in Croatia
Bushari in Baranja
Koledari in Serbia
Kukeri in Bulgaria
Mechkari in Macedonia
Kolednicy in Poland
Kolyadniki in Ukraine
Okrutniki in Russia

(see above)

Important part of the Slavic winter solstice celebration were masked processions. Younger men, clothed in animal fur, carrying horns and bells would march from village to village throughout the region, making an extraordinary amount of noise, fueled in part by the wine provided by the locals. Their primary task is to scare away evil spirits, and bring fertility to household. In this zoomorphic costumes they would represent ancestors, who came from otherworld to celebrate beginning of the new cycle with the living. In the time of winter solstice cult of ancestors and cult of vegetation are heavily intertwined.

Ooooh, we love this! There are veeeery similar costumes, characters and celebrations that still survive in very different zones of Europe, that are clearly remains of a very ancient and common religion or rite.

See how similar masked characters they have in Euskal Herria Greece:

So I began looking and found these equally Traditional European Christmas time monsters, photographer across the Europe by Charles Fréger.
