"That Wave" music video off XTC's 1992 album Nonsuch. Lyrics, guitar, and vocals on That Wave by Andy Partridge, with Colin Moulding on bass, Dave Gregory on guitar, and Dave Mattacks on drums.

Nonsuch was produced by Gus Dudgeon and recorded at Chipping Norton studios. The entire "Making of Nonsuch" home video (featuring footage of Andy Partridge playing acoustic guitar to "That Wave") can be found in the 'extras' section of the Nonsuch 5.1 Bluray release.

- Again, thanks to Hans Devente for transferring and sharing these XTC gems!

- This soundcheck is quite a bit different than the previous one from their
  appearance in Apeldoorn, NL, which has also been circulated. This soundcheck
  sees far fewer songs performed, and only a few performed in their entirety.
  Perhaps this is more of a remark on their maturation as a band. This sound-
  check focusses less of being certain they know how to play their tracks  and
  more on making sure things sound the way they want them to and a general warmup.-

- This soundcheck is now the only known source of 'It's Nearly Africa' performed
  in a live setting. Unfortunately, it's and incomplete performance and Andy only
  sings the first verse. On the other hand, it's very cool to hear the guys play
  this song. Having heard it here, I'd bet this would've made its way into the
  set had XTC stayed a touring band for a little while longer.-

The Dukes Of Stratosphear "Psonic Psunspot" 1985

"On Psonic Psunspot the Dukes took it a little bit further. They tell stories about Jackie that disappeared, many open questions, no Answers, and everything in colourful pictures of the 60s. (...) ... also a musical discovery even today." (Good Times, February / March 2020)

What can follow a masterpiece like Skylarking? Well, at a distance, the answer would be two albums that were just as good: Oranges & Lemons and Nonsuch. But in the wake of Skylarking, an album that developed very slowly from a commercial point of view and culminated many months after the original release, XTC retreated to their alter egos, not as masked criminal street fighters in the main streets of Swindon, but as psychobilly followers who echoed the spirit of 67 with Psonic Psunspot, with 10 perfectly formed songs, culminating in "Pale and Precious", one of the best songs of the decade. - jpc
