RICHARD THOMPSON

Live Broadcast!

29/03/2020

There are lost of folk posting music and songs as they adjust to social isolation but it took Richard to really see what they could get up to Sunday evening. A live 'gig' streaming from his lovely home in Montclair with his lovely partner Zara Phillips (no no not THAT Zara Phillips!) the equally wonderful singer songwriter who provided light relief and banter as well as superb backing vocals towards the end. Sat on his sofa and just with a computer and his guitar Richard played for us over an hour's music!

I made the following notes:

Richard Thompson live Broadcast  29/03/2020 from his home in Montclair New Jersey 1 hour 11.33

with his partner Zara Phillips on hoover and backing vocals

  1. I Misunderstood
  2.  f I Could Live My Life Again
  3. Now Be Thankful (Thompson/Swarbrick 1970)
  4. Walking The Long Miles Home
  5. As Soon as You Hear The Bell
  6. Oh Cinderella
  7. Down Where The Drunkards Roll
  8. Keep Your Distance
  9. The Rattle Within
  10. She Never Could Resist The Winding Road
  11. Jet Plane in a Rocking Chair
  12. I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight

It was of course, superb! So intimate and an amazing range of songs I thought some new ones and some classics that I love. He suggested he would do it again and if you drop by his Facebook page (the only official one) you will keep up to date with where and when! Oh and he did ask for requests and themes if people wanted too!

Thanks for the mighty RT, Andy. One of the greatest IMHO! Although I was concerned, when he put his guitar down at the start and walked off, so I waited. And waited. And waited, eventually he starts - but God is it worth it - effortless.
Cheers and stay safe.
