Looking for Clues in the work of Robert Palmer! | WILLIN’ : Robert Palmer

image

Anyone else surprised by this Lowell George cover?

from Robert Palmer . . . . . funk meister! Johnny and Mary was about as prosaic as he got wasn’t it!I mean Addicted to Love? Simply Irresistable !?

suppose there was the cross over from Vinegar Joe with Elkie Brooks and her hubby but please they wouldn’t have covered Weed, Whites and Wine? Would they? Well he would as his first solo album was heavily influenced by the music of Little Feat and the funk fusion of the Meters, who acted as the backing band along with producer/guitarist Lowell George for his album!!!! WEIRD!

Looking For Clues. . . . yeah right!

Yes you're right. The first few RP albums were Little Feat with a different singer!! IMHO the best he ever did (yes, addicted to love is great after a few beers!). Strangely I don't think Lowell George offered much on them (well, I can't hear him!!!). Sneaking Sally is a great LP.
Nice one Andy. DD

I guess that’s why the Little Feat brains didn’t really ‘fit’ and Lowell didn’t match comfortably with the groovemeister hisself. Might have been off form (ahem) for whatever reason but the Palmer is a rare treat I
