I was standing in line waiting outside of David Letterman's studio in 30 Rock, waiting to see a taping of one of his shows, and started hearing "Anchorage" playing. I told my friend I was standing with, " I like this song, the song playing on the radio..."
After a minute we both realized that we weren't listening to a radio, but to Michelle Shocked playing live, rehearsing with Dave's band, for that night's show. That was a joy, hearing her then and 45 minutes later, playing live on the show.
Michelle Shocked had a great run for a moment. Her Arkansas Traveler is a great album.
