Robert Mitchum in his jail cell following his conviction for possession of marijuana. - 1948
After serving a week in the L.A. county jail (he described the experience to a reporter as being “like Palm Springs, but without the riff-raff”), Mitchum spent 43 days at a Castaic, California, prison farm.
Mitchum’s conviction was later overturned by the Los Angeles court and district attorney’s office. The arrest inspired the film 'She Shoulda Said No!' (1949).
