Liz Fraser . . . . | NERO'S CARDIFF THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATIVE

“In the 1980s I went to a concert at The Marquee in London to see a new band that had only just been played by John Peel on Radio One. I fell in love as they played. The Cocteau Twins became my idols, and I still play their music, even though they broke up in the 90s. The lead singer, Elizabeth Fraser was described as ‘the voice of God’ ’other worldly‘ and ’sings like an alien angel’.  Incidentally Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson must have thought so as well … when the Elves mourn Gandalf’s Death at the hands of the Balrog, Gandalf’s Lament is sung by Fraser.

Here’s to all the bands and singers we fell in love with down through the years … well known or not … there is nothing more British than finding someones music, becoming an ardent fan, buying every recording and attending every gig”

somebody just posted this on Flickkenabuuk

NERO'S CARDIFF THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATIVE

Taken from "The Lord Of The Rings" soundtrack, this amazing lament is sung by Elizabeth Fraser from the Cocteau Twins, the video is by shum65, and features many images including Colin Ratushniak.
